National diesel average falls for second straight week, according to EIA data

Following increases in seven out of eight weeks through the week of July 13, the national average weekly price per gallon for diesel gasoline fell for the second straight week, according to data issued this week by the Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA).

On the heels of a 0.005-cent decrease, to $2.433 per gallon, for the week of July 20, the national average dropped another 0.006 cents, to $2.427 per gallon, for the week of July 27.

The national diesel average has been below the $3 per gallon mark since the week ending February 2, when it posted an average of $2.956.

On an annual basis, this week’s diesel average is down 60.7 cents.

West Texas Intermediate Crude is currently trading at $41.16 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
